Dimensions are 31x50" red cotton fabric, double-sided with separately applied white star in center. Star is double-row machine stitched in place and - as is typical with these - area where star is placed is actually cut out. At one end of flag is wide sleeve for pole. OC16.)WORLD WAR TWO IMPERIAL JAPANESE ARMY OFFICER'S VISOR CAP IN ITS ORIGINAL HAT BOX: beautiful profile and high peak to this officer's visor cap. Imperial Japanese Army olive brown officer quality wool body with crimson woolen felt cap band. Has black patent leather visor and black patent leather chin strap fastened at sides with officer type gilt chrysanthemum buttons. With 25mm wide gold finished Imperial Japanese Army star in center of cap band, an officer quality star in high raised relief and three-dimensional in its profile. Around the crown of cap is 2mm wide crimson wool piping and at sides are two olive brown enamel finished ventilation grommets, two on each side. Interior of cap is lined with heavy brown silk material and has impeccably hand-stitched Japanese characters being this officer's name. Black oilcloth sweatband, typical of these. Condition of cap is quite superb; wool shows a couple of tiny moth nibbles and a few tracks to surface; black patent leather visor is completely intact but shows light age crazing to surface. Oil cloth sweatband is likewise intact but also shows light age from use. Cap comes in its original hat box being 11" wide and 7" tall hard body round container covered with decorative cloth and trimmed with brown leather. Has brown leather carrying handle and fastening buckle/leather tab at front. This is a rare visor cap in any condition; this one is quite excellent given its long term preservation in this original hat box. EXC++ $395.00. To Order
OC17.)BRITISH ROYAL AIR FORCE FLIGHT OFFICER'S VISOR CAP; WORLD WAR TWO: perfect shape and profile to this very desirable World War Two collectible. RAF royal grayish-blue body with wool covered stiff visor. Has black mohair wool cap band and black ersatz leather chinstrap. Body of cap is heavily bolstered and padded. At front is a rather magnificent Royal Air Force officer cap emblem being hand embroidered bullion wire, thick and bolstered, Nearly three-dimensional padded red velvet crown with meticulously hand applied gold bullion wire details. Base of crown is executed in silver bullion wire and multiple jewels are of hand embroidered colored thread. Really quite spectacular. At base is gold bullion wire hand embroidered wreath with gold stamped metal RAF eagle device in center; on black wool underlay and meticulously hand applied to cap by this hat tailor. Interior of cap is lined with brown satin and has genuine leather sweatband with decorative brown silk bow at rear. Interior crown on cap has this military outfitter's name "Alkit, Service and Sporting Outfitters, Cambridge Circus, London, W.C.2". Note that crown is the so-called 'king's crown' design of George VI. Really a high quality cap in superb+ condition; sweatband shows two splits to leather from use, no mothing to wool. Very little evidence of heavy use. Great WWII aviator's cap. SOLD
