1.)THIRD REICH GERMAN ARMY OFFICER'S SWORD: an absolutely splendid example of the highest quality. Personalized to this officer with his engraved initials 'RJ' in a decorative monogram on lanquet. 40" long with bright nickel-plated curved blade, no sharpening to edge, no nicks. Ricasso is marked with the knight's head logo of the WKC firm (Weyersburg, Kirschbaum & Cie). Complete with original brown leather buffer pad. Spectacular fire gilded finish on hilt with Wehrmacht eagle/swastika details in high relief on languet. 'P' shaped knuckle guard is decorated with oak leaves and acorns as is back strap. Perfect black composition grip with twisted silver wire wrap. Massive lion's head pommel with its original red glass eyes. Complete with officer's sword knot having dark green leather strap decorated with silver bullion embroidery; silver bullion cord ball and cap. Original smooth black enamel finish to scabbard is all but intact save for a few scuffs and scrapes to surface. This is an exceptional edged weapon all around. Truly extraordinary. SOLD
2.)CASED 1939 KNIGHT'S CROSS OF THE IRON CROSS; REPRODUCTION: excellent 1960's copy, really quite impressive and collectible in its own right. Entire piece has accumulated an appealing age over the past forty plus years. Three-piece construction with smooth black finished magnetic center, mild wear to high relief details on swastika. Crisp '1939' date and well struck features show on nickel-silver frame. Dimensions of cross within the correct tolerance of 48x48.5mm (right on the money). Reverse of cross has been convincingly aged as well. Has '800' silver content proof marks on reverse near ring although these marking are rather muted. Crisp maker's mark '4' for the firm of Steinhauer & Luck. Very impressive copy Oakleaves of high quality silver metal alloy, well detailed and nicely done. Comes with excellent 1960's era copy neck ribbon, correctly 45mm wide and 11" long, hand sewn and fashioned at ends with long tie tapes. Ribbon also has been convincingly aged. Case is correct hinged black leatherette, 80x145mm with functioning spring button catch at front. Interior is lined with black velvet and has deeply recessed area to perfectly accommodate cross; compartment above to hold folded ribbon. Upper interior of case is lined with padded white satin and has been intentionally aged. This is a remarkable copy and worth every bit of the price. We just can't find these superb reproductions. With genuine cased examples now selling for $13,000 this piece is a bargain at just 4.5% of that market value. SOLD
