Gray finish is scraped and worn but nearly 85% intact; surface shows wartime use. Beneath this hand applied gray finish are evident traces of a tropical tan camouflage scheme. Gas mask is a wonderful piece having olive green canvas body with leather trim and complete with all straps, head harness and buckles. Eye frames, snout and top of filter are hand painted in tropical tan note that the filter is original to this mask because its top is likewise finished with this KM tropical tan enamel. Amber lenses are dated '1937' and filter is profusely marked with maker's code 'FE' and '42' date along with additional inspection ink stamps added after the filter had been tropical painted.
