RD3864.)US CIRCA WORLD WAR ONE/1920'S BALLOON OBSERVER'S WING: recently from an old Virginia collection. Fine old copy and one made to fool for sure. 3" full size silver wing with balloon motif in center having separately applied 'US'. Reverse shows the period snowflake pattern and horizontal swing pin. Evans Kerrigan in his American Badges and Insignia, page 69 attributes this wing to being 'Military Aeronaut' and was authorized in December of 1918. EXC++++
