Separately applied silver inscription 'VERDIENST'. Silver wreath and with perfect white glass enameling on the reverse. Has 2mm chip to red glass enameling on the front in center at 1:30 o'clock position. Perfect, ribbed, silver suspension clasp and clean Austrian style tri-fold ribbon having frosted gold crossed swords device for combatant. Comes in wartime, hinged, maroon leatherette case with functioning spring button at front. Gold embossed lettering on lid 'Militaer Verdienstkreuz III. Cl' (Military Service Cross 3rd Class) and below are the gold initials 'K.D' for Kriegsdienst or 'War Service'. Interior is lined with plush black velvet and is recessed to perfectly accommodate cross and tri-fold ribbon. Padded upper interior of case is printed with premiere Viennese orders and decorations maker 'V.Mayer&Sohne' along with 'Kammer Juweliere Ordenfabrik, Wien' (Handmade Jewelry and Orders Maker).
