G448.)WORLD WAR ONE GERMAN 'HATE BELT': German army enlisted ranks field service belt in a really good state of preservation. 2" wide brown leather and 38" long. Buckle is a really nice example...Prussian army enlisted ranks brass buckle with separately applied -- and now darkly toned -- silver crown device in center with 'GOTT MIT UNS'. A really beautiful buckle. With sixteen (16) buttons all applied with round cotter pin fasteners on the back. Buttons are all WWI period: German regimental shoulder buttons (with regimental numbers); German imperial army buttons (crown), Austrian army (eagle); British Commonwealth (Australian); French medical officer's (frosted gold); large Bavarian army tunic button; French Corps of Cadets (which we added as a period replacement for one button that was missing). Underside of belt has brown leather tab with adjustment holes for tightening and this tab too is soft and supple and perfect, stitching too is intact and strong. Nice belt. EXC++++
