G545.)COLLECTION OF SIX (6) GERMAN 3rd RCH INSIGNIA: acquired these years ago up in Virginia and forgot about them, only recently discovered when sorting through a ton of odd items stored here. These came from an old veteran source (Petersburg, VA). Include German army Wehrmacht eagle shield for the tropical sun helmet -- maker marked on the back 'J.R.&S.' and missing one prong. German Red Cross nurse's throat brooch with fine glass enameling on silver frosted alloy, now toned. Details are 'Deutsches Rotes Kreuz Schwesternhelferin' (German Red Cross Nursing Assistant). Reverse has horizontal swing pin and is marked with maker's code '1' for the Deschler firm and German design patent protection 'GES.GESCH.'. Genuine period KM sailor's cap tally for the cruiser Prince Eugen. 53" long and 28mm wide with BeVo machine embroidered yellow thread details 'Kreuzer Prinz Eugen' on black silk-like fabric. Has that mass of threads on the back so common to original period BeVo machine embroidery. 3rd Rch German army dog tag, zinc alloy and intact with both halves. Die struck with soldier's number '446' and his outfit 'BAUKP./4' (translates to 4th Pionier Construction Company...'Bau' in German is for construction while the letter 'P' is for combat engineers. Stamped too with his blood type 'A'. Leather neck cord which has been on there since the beginning of time. Also includes Kriegsmarine sleeve rating for elevated signals mate...on navy blue wool and with black fabric backing. Lastly, Kriegsmarine Mine Sweeper Badge which has been de-Nazified, swastika is rubbed off. All of the gold wash finish has worn off of this badge. It's constructed of a quality silver alloy and is slightly vaulted. Not maker marked. EXC++
