G569.)BOXED NSDAP STANDARD BEARER'S BREAST SHIELD: superb example still housed in its orignal black cardboard carton. Gorget is vaulted, gilt-finished, non-magnetic alloy. Raised relief acanthus leaves border and with separately applied NSDAP political eagle in center. Dimensions are 112x227mm at its widest points. Eagle motif is burnished in the recessed areas for contrast. Reverse of shield has green pool table woolen felt. Two brass prongs with one being die-struck with RZM logo and maker's code 'M1/102' (Frank & Reif, Stuttgart). Condition of shield itself is quite superb but for a couple of tarnished spots on the left side (one on the upper border, the other on the lower left wing tip). Comes with its intact neck chain being constructed of thirty-one (31) separate links with alternating political eagle and swastika/wreath motifs. The links at each end are similarly marked with RZM logo and maker's code 'M1/102'. Black cardboard carton is formed in the shape of the shield so it fits snugly inside; still has its original brown tissue wrapper inside. Case shows mild age and wear from the years. EXC++++
