RD574.)CASED GERMAN CROSS IN GOLD: a spectacular old copy and one made to deceive for sure. I can't praise this one enough. It's properly constructed in every respect; it's mellowed and aged and just radiates originality. The previous owner bought this gem forgery some years as original of course. Oh, and the case is an addition of ours. It looks great too. 63mm wide from point-to-point and correctly constructed of the five major parts and components (not including the hinge/pin assembly). Black glass enameled swastika with nickel-silver alloy base and mounted on now tarnished silver disc. Note that this disc is toned with a handsome rainbow patina. Stamped wreath is crisp and perfect; has the nine vertical bars on the '1941' scroll. Red border too on either side of the wreath. Starburst is double-layered with burnished upper level and silver frosted secondary layer. Reverse is a nickel-silver alloy and nearly black with tarnish. So unbelievably convincing. Quality nickel-silver hinge with tapered nickel-silver pin, quality 'C' hook catch. With perfectly domed and flawless rivets on the back. Case is 4 1/2 x 4 1/2" black leatherette and is hinged with functioning spring button catch at front. Gold border around the top of the case. Interior of case is lined with plush black velvet and is recessed to perfectly accommodate hinge/pin assembly. Upper interior is lined with padded white satin. EXC+++++
