OC606.)WWII ITALIAN AVIATOR'S TUNIC AND FASCIST LEADER'S VISOR CAP: 4-pocket service tunic tailored of a fine officer quality blue-gray wool. Pleated patch pockets above, large cargo pockets below. Four button front and has separate waist belt too with meta adjustment buckle. All buttons are WWII Italian Regia Aeronautica (Royal Air Force) and show royal eagle with king's crown above (remember that despite Mussolini being in power, Italy at time was still a monarchy with a king). On lower cuffs are separately applied gold tresse rank bars -- now tarnished -- being for lieutenant. Has machine embroidered tailor's label inside neck area 'Unione Militaire'. On each shoulder are Italian Air Force bullion wire embroidered epaulettes....these are original to this tunic. You can discern quite clearly where this pilot's wing was in place at one time. I know nothing of WWII Italian aviation items so this tunic 'is what it is' so to speak. I don't see any evidence of it having ever been altered or messed with. Included is what I believe to be an Italian fascist youth leader's visor cap, however your research might conclude otherwise. This one too 'is what it is'. Nice cap tailored of an aviation blue-gray wool and shows a good profile an shape. Construction is padded and bolstered. Cap band is now tarnished gold tresse with aviation sky blue center band. Separately applied gold bullion hand embroidered 'winged' fasces bundle (both silver and gold bullion wire workmanship) and embroidered letters 'GIL" (Gioventu Italiana el Littorio=Italian Youth Movement). Black patent leather visor with dark green underside. Black patent leather chin strap intact and fine and fastened at sides with gold Italian eagle/crown aviation buttons. Has genuine gray leather sweat band -- soft and supple -- and with decorative silk bow at rear seam. Inside of cap is lined with quilted gray satin and is gold-printed with maker 'Coruzzolo'. Couple of scattered moth bites to wool on crown, not serious at all. Nothing on either of these items -- visor cap or tunic -- glow under a black light. Both came together out of a Midwest collection and might have actually been the property of the same officer. EXC++++

Tunic is about a US size 36 and the cap is about a European size 56.
