OC607.)1920'S WEIMAR GERMANY SAILOR'S CAP: sailor's cap for the circa 1924 German transport vessel 'Fulda' which was launched from the port of Bremen by the North German Lloyd Shipping Line. Fine quality navy blue wool construction and showing a strong profile and shape. Has gold stamped alloy emblem at front for the North German Shipping Company. Sailor's cap tally is gold thread BeVo machine embroidered on black silk 'Nordd.Lloyd d. Fulda'. This vessel the 'Fulda' was captured in Manchuria by the Japanese at the outbreak of World War Two and converted into a Japanese transport 'Teikoko Maru'. She was part of several Japanese military convoys during the war and sunk by US 5th Air Force B-25 bombers off of the Philippines in December 1944. Comes with printed out history of the steamship Fulda. Inside of cap has brown leather sweat band...shows wear and age from use. Printed too on the inside crown with cap maker 'Willy Sprengfell, Hamburg 22'.
