US636.)WWII USAAF PILOT'S CRUSHER CAP, AUSTRALIAN-MADE: fine officer quality chocolate brown wool. Shows a great crusher profile and shape, salty too. Has light khaki shade mohair wool cap band. Ventilation grommets on each side and with russet brown leather chin strap fastened at sides with officer type, gold American eagle buttons. At front is gold-finished American eagle device, screw-back with brass locking nut. The threaded screw-post on this eagle was period repaired; resoldered. Smooth brown leather visor shows wear and age. Interior of cap is lined with OD satin and has genuine brown leather sweat band. All the stitching on band is intact and strong. Printed inside crown with 'Authorized U.S. Army Officer's Cap' and 'Made by Jones Brothers, Limited' with Australian maker 'Surrey Hills, Sydney'. No mothing to wool. EXC+
