G673.)CASED 1914-1918 AUSTRIAN MILITARY WAR SERVICE CROSS: an imperial Austrian valor medal, just beautiful. 30mm wide silver cross adorned with stunning glass enameling. In center is separately applied central boss with raised relief inscription 'VERDIENSTE' (Loyal Service). Reverse is detailed with white glass enamel workmanship. Silver itself is nearly black with tarnish. Clean ribbon folded in the typical Austrian configuration and with Austrian hook and eyelet fastener. Comes in elaborate black leatherette case, hinged and with functioning spring button catch at front. Adorned with gold embossing showing crossed swords, and swirls and inscription 'MILITAER VERDIENSTEKREUZ' (Military War Service Cross). Inside of case is lined with plush purple velvet and is deeply recessed to hold cross and ribbon perfectly. Upper interior is lined with padded white cotton fabric and is printed with gold logo of the premiere orders and medals maker 'ROTHE & NEFFE, JUWELIRE K.u.K.KAMMER'='Kaiserlicher und Koniglicher Kammerlieferant (or Supplier to Royalty and by appointment of the Kaiser and King).  Just outstanding!
