G730.)GERMAN ARMY M40 SINGLE DECAL STEEL HELMET: super-nice original, un-fooled with and intact. Large size too. Has much of its original field gray finish and shows the typical overall scuffs and scrapes, wear around the rim....all from field use. Finish is that typical wartime, rough, sand application, light deflecting. Single decal is present and is about 70% intact. Has one scuff in the middle of the decal and overall wear and age. Has its original dark brown pigskin leather sweat band, certainly not a replacement. Leather is dark from use, soft and supple and all of the fingers are intact. Typical wear to leather where it's folded over the liner band and the stitching on the rear seam is strong and robust. Ink stamped with liner size '58'. Liner band is tightly fitted into the shell; rivets are snug and secure, not loose. The liner drawstring is a post-war replacement. Underside of liner skirt is marked with maker and shell size 'NS66'. Has its original dark brown leather chin strap -- soft and supple and intact -- shows typical age. Chin strap is not marked and has gray-finished, magnetic buckle. EXC++++
