G790.)EARLY 3rd REICH GERMAN ARMY NCO'S SWORD: 39" long overall with clean, nickel-plated, slightly curved blade. Shows mild in/out wear from scabbard action, very light blemishing here and there. No extra sharpening to edge and tip is pointed, not blunted. No dings to edge. Marked 'Carl Eickhorn, Solingen' on the reverse ricasso beneath the lanquet. Has its original brown leather buffer pad. Solid brass hilt and cross-guard; has brown leather finger loop. Black bakelite contoured grip is completely intact and perfect as is the twisted brass wire wrap. Profusely marked with eagle/'82' inspector's proof....marked with this on blade spine, on the hilt's ferrule band, underside of hilt, on the scabbard throat. Underside of cross-guard marked with serial number '4490' while the scabbard throat is marked with '3680'. Both the sword hilt and the scabbard throat are identically marked with 'C.E./G'. Smooth black enamel finish on steel scabbard shows mild wear and age. Finish is pretty much intact. EXC++++
