G957.)3rd RCH GERMAN FORESTRY OFFICER'S VISOR CAP: an outstanding example of the National Forestry Service visor cap, elevated official's position (officer rank). Shows a good profile and shape, high peak. With semi-flexible black leather visor (genuine leather like a 'crusher' cap, not black patent leather). Constructed of a quality dark green wool and piped around the crown and above the upper and lower dark green wool cap band with bottle-green wool for forestry service. Both the cap eagle and cockade are hand embroidered silver bullion wire on dark green badge cloth wool underlay. Both are impeccably hand applied. Silver bullion wire workmanship is exquisite...note too the separately applied national colors rosette in the center of the cap wreath. Has its orignal silver bullion officer type chin cord fastened at sides with silver pebbled buttons. Brown leather sweat band, soft and supple and intact but for one split to leather at rear near decorative silk bow. Interior of cap is lined with tan satin-like fabric and has clear, celluloid moisture shield whcih is pretty much intact but for undone stitching in one area. Silver printed with hat and uniform maker 'Hans Dahn, Hannover-Munden Specialhaus fur Forstuniformen-Forsteffeketn, Forsteute u.Mutzen' (Special House for Forestry Uniforms, Forestry Accessories and Forestry Headgear). This is a great looking visor cap in a really good state of preservation. Visor leather shows some heat crazing, no mothing to wool. EXC++++
