Handsome frosted gold pendent, just beautiful, with separately applied glass enameled red cross shield in center flanked on either side by winged angels of mercy. At base is Austrian Red Cross motto 'PATRIAE AC HUMANITI' (For Patriotism and Humankind). This is a stunning medal. Reverse has dates '1864' (the the year that the Austrian Red Cross was founded) and '1914'. Clean ribbon in female type bowed configuration and safety pin on back. Comes in 3 1/2" square white cardboard carton lined inside with plush white velvet and is compartment to hold ribbon separately above. Lid is printed with red cross emblem and Austrian Red Cross motto along with 'K.D.' for Kriegsdienst or wartime service. Case is intact and perfect but for some light soiling to the lid. EXC++++
