G269.)PRUSSIAN ENLISTED RANK'S FIELD CAP IN IT ORIGINAL CARTON: lovely imperial Prussian field cap circa 1914 and named to infantryman. Cap is Prussian blue wool -- a fine melton cloth fabric -- and piped around the crown and above below the black wool cap band with crimson wool for Prussian infantry. Has both German national colors metal cockade (red/black/white) and Prussian (black/white). Both cockades are fine, enamel intact. Cap shows some light mothing to the crown and a few nips here and there. Mothing along the border where the base is folded over the cap band, not bad though. Interior of cap is lined with typical brown oilcloth fabric and has intact brown sweat band. Stitching is intact where sweat band is sewn to cap. Has paper label inside named to infantryman 'Musketier Welter' (rifleman Welter) and his unit '2Kpm Inf.=Rgt. Kais. Wilhelm' (which translates to '2nd Company, Infantry Regiment 'Kaiser Wilhelm'). Also with '2.Grossh.Hess. Nr.116' (2 Grossherzog Hesse)=Grand Duke of Hess. Comes in 5x10" cardboard hat box with this same named label on the lid. On the side is military accoutrements distributor's label 'Phi. Lorz, Darmstadt' and 'Hofmutzmacher & Kurschner' (House Hat Maker and Furrier). Also marked with all of their products which includes: helmets, sabers, headgear, sword and bayonet knots, spurs, military belts, etc. Hat box is intact and shows age and wear from the years.
