G559.)GERMAN ARMY OFFICER'S ATWOOD PARTS DAGGER: really handsome 1960's parts dagger with only the blade being a post-war replica. All of the parts fit together snugly and perfectly; the only reason why you'd know that this German army officer's dagger is one of Atwood's 'assembled' pieces is because we are telling you that it is. Blade is one of those that Atwood had made in Solingen during his service time there with the US Army (1966-1967). All of the other parts are original 3rd Rch period. Blade is intact and perfect, has prominent cross-graining workmanship. Reverse ricasso is etched with thermometer logo and maker 'F.W.Holler, Solingen'. Has brown leather buffer pad. Both the cross-guard and pommel are matching and are the early type that I absolutely love...both are finished with a silver frosting and are handsomely toned with patina. Original period grip is the desirable squash-yellow color and shows no chips nor any cracks. Note too that all of the parts fit together snugly and perfectly. Original period silver finished scabbard, darkly toned with patina. Shows some oxidation to the leading edge and at the tip. EXC++++
