Smooth black finished center, magnetic, three-piece construction. Perfect details in high raised relief. Silver frame is bright and mirror-like, no toning. Beaded edge is silver frosted. Reverse has typical Iron Cross type hinge and silver frosted, tapered pin. Back of Iron Cross is finished with as silver frosted application. A beautiful cross. Cross is not maker marked. Comes in 2 3/4" square black leatherette case with silver embossed EK motif on lid. Case is hinged and has functioning spring button catch at front. Lined inside with plush ivory shade velvet and is slotted to accommodate hinge/pin assembly. Upper interior is lined with padded white satin. Comes in intact brown cardboard issue carton printed on cover with title 'Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse 1939' and warning 'Nur vom Empfanger zu offnen' (To Be Opened By the Recipient Only). Marked on the side with premiere maker 'B.H.Mayer, Pforzheim'. Just outstanding. EXC++++
