G535.)GERMAN ARMY K98 DRESS BAYONET WITH ETCHED BLADE: recently examined and confirmed to be original period. I know edged weapons well having collected them for years (plus we have probably sold over a thousand different specimens over the years, both genuine and a few good quality replicas too) single-sided etched panel. This is the shorter version of the German army K98 dress bayonet being 14" long with clean, nickel-plated blade. Shows some minor in/out wear from scabbard action. Some minor age and wear to finish on blade. Deeply etched and perfect commemorative panel showing Wehrmacht eagles (like the M35 helmet decal) along with acanthus leaves and scroll 'Zur Erinnerung an Meine Dienstzeit' (In Memory of My Service Time). Reverse ricasso is marked with the familiar squirrel logo and 'Carl Eichkorn, Solingen'. Has brown leather buffer pad. Black checkered composition grips, mild browning to metal rivets. Nickel-plated cross guard and pommel; finish is intact on pommel and guard and shows mild age and wear. Has red woolen felt plug in the bayonet lug channel. Smooth black finished steel scabbard is crazing to the surface, some minor age browning here and there. Some lifting to finish. EXC++++
