G650.)SA DAGGER, EARLY RZM TYPE: '1938' dated blade and double-marked, a lovely, early example. Shows a beautiful, mirror-like, nickel-plated blade. Minor in/our wear to surfaces from scabbard action. Bold and deep 'Alles fur Deutschland' motto. Blade shows some light surface blemishing from moisture, no rust nor any oxidation toning. Reverse has crisply etched maker's logo being large motif showing fist grasping spear and 'KLITTERMANN 7 MOOG, G.M.B.H.' and 'HAAN b./SOLINGEN'. Also etched with RZM logo and maker's code 'M7/29 1938'. Note that the cross-guards are the early nickel-silver type. Flawless dark fruitwood with perfectly inset national eagle motif and enameled SA button above. Cross-guard to grip fit is snug, no major gaps. No cracks to wood nor any chips. Scabbard is RZM type smooth brown enamel finished, really nice and intact. Just a few scuffs and scrapes here and there; finish can easily be estimated as being 95% present and intact. No dents and all screws are present on scabbard fittings. Note too that the pommel nut is aluminum, a feature which is entirely consistent with an RZM model. Note the comments below taken from several internet sites. This is a gem quality dagger. Ask for more up-close and detailed photos should you care to study this gem more carefully before buying. EXC++++
- SA (Sturmabteilung) daggers can feature aluminum pommel nuts, particularly on late-production or RZM-marked models (roughly 1936–1942), where nickel-plated zinc or aluminum was often used to reduce production costs
- Aluminum/Zinc Usage: Later-production models, often stamped with the RZM logo (Reichszeugmeisterie), commonly utilized cheaper materials, including aluminum or zinc-plated nuts.
