Enameling is flawless, no cracks nor any chips. Finely detailed national eagles in each quadrant with white enamels behind swastikas. Silver base shows that rainbow, shimmery toning so common to genuine silver precious metal. Reverse is equally as impressive. Suspension ring is die-struck with maker's code '21' and silver content '900'. Clean, full length ribbon with typical German pin-back device. Comes in 3x5" red leatherette case, hinged and with decorative brass clasp at front. On lid is gold embossed national eagle. Interior of case is lined with plush black velvet and is recessed to perfectly hold cross and pin-back device. Upper inside is lined with padded white satin and is printed with this decoration's title 'Verdienstkreuz III. Stufe des Ordens vom Deutschen Adler' (Service Cross 3rd Class of the Order of the German Eagle). Case is in a near-perfect state of preservation. Still has the business card inside from a very well-known Massachusetts militaria dealer. EXC++++
