G833.)GERMAN ARMY OFFICER'S DAGGER, ENGRAVED CROSS-GUARD: lovely example of the German army officer's dagger with clean blade showing only minor in/our wear to nickel-plated surfaces. No rusting nor any oxidation blemishing, some very minor graying. No extra sharpening and the tip is fine. Reverse ricasso etched to familiar quality maker 'WKC Solingen' and has its original brown leather buffer pad. Dark orange-brown composition grip, really quite handsome and unique...no cracks to grip nor any chips. Early nickel-plated cross-guard with finely detailed eagle in high relief. Pommel too is nickel-silver plated and, along with the cross-guard, nicely toned with a dark, sterling-like patina. Reverse of cross-guard is perfectly jeweler engraved with name 'Dr.Settles' and Suchteln, Rhl.' (Suchteln is a small town in the Rhineland). Has its original officer's bullion knot tied in the correct configuration. Knot shows wear and age from use and from the years. Nickel-plated steel scabbard is completely intact, no rusting nor any lifting or bubbling to the finish. Handsomely toned too with years of patina and shows no dents nor any creases. The original screw is present too which hold the scabbard throat in place. Ask for more up-close and detailed images of the engraving. A remarkable dagger of the highest quality especially too with the dark orange-brown grip. Nice. EXC+++++
