G911.)SA OFFICER'S KEPI: a splendid original period SA officer's kepi in a wonderful state of preservation. This came out of George Petersen's collection fifteen years ago. At the time I bought it from George and sold it to a mid-West collector. Superbly tailored example showing a perfect profile and shape. Tailored of a quality political mustard-brown officer quality wool and piped around the crown with the proper micro-braided silver cord for officer ranks. Has cornflower blue wool cap band and is piped around the flay with blue/yellow twisted cord wool. On each side of cap are two enamel-finished metal ventilation grommets. Officer's 1cm wide silver tresse around the cap band. At front is NSDAP political eagle, the early type, original to this headgear and with 17mm wide gold pebbled button at front. Brown leather chin cord is soft and supple and is intact....has magnetic adjustment buckles and domed, magnetic side buttons too. Interior is lined with dark blue cotton fabric and has genuine brown leather sweat band, soft and supple and intact. Clear, celluloid moisture shield intact with strong stitching. Shield is period celluloid (like old photographic film) and has aged paper size tag '56'. In a wonderful state of preservation, a couple of minor moth bites on the crown. EXC++++

Pre-RZM Caps (1920s – early 1930s): Early SA kepis that predated the RZM's strict manufacturing standards had no RZM tags. These feature private manufacturer stamps, size stamps, or no markings at all.

[1, 2]Special Orders / Private Purchases: Some units or higher-ranking officers placed special orders or private purchases directly with independent tailors. While many of these still used RZM-approved cloth, some custom-ordered or non-standard regional caps (like Mountain SA caps) omitted them. [1, 2, 3]
