G924.)CASED GERMAN RED CROSS GRAND CROSS BREAST STAR; a hyper-rare treasure.....pre-1936 type: the workmanship of the premiere Godet firm and so marked. Spectacular, breath-taking 83mm wide silver starburst, highly vaulted and heavy. With separately applied black enameled DRK eagle motif in center which is separately applied to white glass enamel cross design. Just exquisite and you'll agree. Silver starburst is toned to a handsome sterling-like patina. 15mm wide silver hinge on the back with high quality, tapered, silver pin. Two hollow and perfect rivets on the reverse. Pin is die-struck with premiere maker 'GEBR.GODET&Co., BERLIN'. Comes in 4" square red leatherette case, hinged and with catch at front. Inside of case is lined with plush blue velvet and is deeply recessed to perfectly hold cross and pin/hinge assembly. Upper interior of case lined with padded blue satin-like fabric. Printed with gold Godet logo 'Gebr. Godet & Co., Charlottenstr. 55'. Catch at front of case functions but doesn't lock the lid any longer.
