Of course it's inert and harmless. 14" long overall with field green enameled steel head, tapered hardwood handle and screw-on, sheet metal cap. Cylinder at top is die-struck with maker's code and date 'fcc 43'...the wooden handle is die-struck with the same nomenclature. Has pull cord and white porcelain ball. EXC++++
