RD289.)AFRIKA KORPS SOUVINIER STEEL HELMET: some faker did some really good work in 'restoring' this original 3rd period civilian model steel helmet (fire police or Luftschutz air raid warden's). It's original field gray-green finish is still intact on the interior so I can only surmise that it was originally a police helmet. The shell has been brush-stroked with a tropical tan application (same shade that DAK vehicles were finished with) and it's been attractively aged and mildly distressed. Really good looking. On wearer's left side is the German Afrika Korps palm/swastika decal and hand-painted on the side with GI's dedication 'Afrika 1943'. Has its original gray leather civilian liner -- intact and perfect -- along with the original brown leather chin strap, soft and supple and intact too. EXC++++
