RD582.)CASE ONLY, '39 IRON CROSS 2nd CLASS: deluxe, vintage copy and one that's easily forty years old, a product of the 1980's. These were made -- and not very many of them either -- to deceive collectors. You will still run into one from time-to-time being offered as orignal period. Hinged, 3x4" dimensions, leatherette grain black leather with function spring button catch at front. Lid is silver embossed with 'LDO logo. Interior is lined with plush maroon velvet and is deeply inset to accommodate '39EKII and its ring. Upper interior is padded with white satin and has two silk bands to hold folded ribbon. Nothing on this case glows under a black light so it's a dangerous old forgery. Again, this is a hyper-deluxe old case, not one of the newer, poor quality examples out there in the collecting market today. Shown here with a '39 Iron Cross just for display purposes, not included. EXC++++
When testing a subject for the presence of florescent brighteners be sure to test in total darkness and use a white piece of copy paper as a control. The white copy paper will glow a brilliant lavender while the subject may just reflect a purple cast. Don't be confused by this.
