RD671.)WAFFEN-SS M42 STEEL HELMET WITH CAMOUFLAGE COVER: really a fine piece of restoration workmanship. Should you have encountered this helmet/camouflage cover at a militaria show you'd likely consider it to be genuine period. It's that good. M42 steel helmet which is genuine period and is black-finished. SS runic decal is evident beneath the camouflage cover on wearer's right side. Rear of shell's underside is marked with production code '5318' and appears to be a size '64'. Old brown leather liner is aged and worn; soft and supple still and intact. Zinc liner band. Cloth camouflage cover -- the SS summer pattern type -- is unbelievably convincing. It's aged and soiled and has wear around the rim just like a rear one. You'll agree, this one's fantastic and is oh so convincing. Has machine sewn on loops for extra foliage and black-finished metal clips around the border (one is broken but present). Has black rubber helmet band with metal hooks too which are all aged and brown with mild oxidation. Black leather chin strap is an old reproduction, aged and worn. Why pay $3,000+ for a real one when you can have this incredible old copy that's just as fine? EXC++++
