RD674.)TWO (2) GERMAN-JAPANESE YOUTH COMMEMORATIVE ENAMEL BADGES: two really fine old copies being the commemorative badges for the Japanese-German youth gatherings. One is dated '1939' and the other is from wartime '1942'. I do recall reading that the Japanese contingent arrived in Germany via Imperial Japanese Navy submarine! Both are fine glass enamel on nickel-silver base alloy and both are intended to deceive. Both have German national eagle with HJ diamond design and Japanese rising sun national flag. Round example is detailed with '4.DEUTSCH-JAPAN AKAD TAGUNG, ST CHRISTOPH AM ARLBERG TIROL'. This was for the 4th annual skiing and mountain/alpine events held that year. With Austrian maker on the back 'ALOIS KLAMMER, INNSBRUCK'. EXC++++
