RD684.)GERMAN POLICE M35 DOUBLE-DECAL COMBAT STEEL HELMET: spectacular old piece of restoration workmanship, as fine as any original. Just a total stunner. An original period steel helmet shell, M35 type with separately applied flanges at sides. Smooth police-green enamel showing only minor age and wear....very, very convincing. You'd swear that this helmet is 100% original. Both decals are high quality old fakes and are expertly applied; the national colors/swastika shield decal appears to be original. Not sure. Underside of shell is die-struck with helmet maker's code and shell size 'NS66'. Rear skirt is die-struck with production code '5928'. Super-fine pigskin leather liner -- and old reproduction of the highest quality, not junk. Leather is convincingly dark from use and age, soft and supple. Has all of the round leather washers and draw string. Ink stamped with liner size '59'. You can discern where the aluminum liner band is marked which is pretty neat. Inside of shell still has blue ink-stamped dome stamping which is '1939' dated and easy to make out. Black leather chin strap (which I believe is an old repro but can't say for sure) is crisply RB numbered on the tip.
