Wreath has been frosted with a gold application that just sparkles in sunlight; diving eagle motif is a handsomely toned silver. Note too the crispness of the Wehrmacht eagle motif. Reverse has wide gold hinge and tapered gold pin; two perfectly domed rivets on the back. The 'C' hook catch has a safety latch that's hinged and folds into the pin to lock it in place. Jeweler engraved on the back of the wreath with 'Fallchirm.Inf.Komp.' and name/rank 'Gefr. Fink'. Just a breath-taking old copy, none finer. EXC+++++

Quite a few years ago a well-known militaria dealer (now deceased) showed me one of these (different engraving as I recall) and warned me about it being a dangerous fake. However, a month later I saw him at one of the high profile militaria shows and he had it priced at $2,200...and he sold it too.
