RD853.)ALLGEMEINE-SS M40 DOUBLE DECAL STEEL HELMET: an orignal period shell that's been restored with a smooth black enamel finish. Both decals are intact and show convincing age. Some oxidation browning around the rim and wear here too which is common of course. Brown leather liner is soft and supple and intact. No doubt it's early post-war European. Looks very much like it's genuine 3rd Rch era. Has brown leather washers and replacement draw string. Brown leather chin strap is old and worn. Appears to be European post-war (Norwegian perhaps?). Underside of original shell is die-struck with helmet maker and large shell size 'Q66' along with production code 'S1448'. Great looking restored helmet! EXC++++
