RD884.)GERMAN ARMY GENERAL OFFICER'S VISOR CAP: 1980's piece of workmanship and now over forty years old. It radiates age and originality, really spectacular. Displays a perfect profile and shape, high peak. Tailored of a high quality officer's field gray wool and piped around the crown and around the upper/lower dark green badge cloth wool cap band with the correct micro-braided gold bullion cord. Piping is now convincingly toned with a pleasing patina. Smooth black patent leather visor with khaki-tan underside. Mild age to visor. Both the national eagle and wreath are stamped gold alloy and both are convincingly toned with years to tarnish. Both are excellent+ quality and appear to be original. Note the separately applied cockade in the center of the wreath......has red wool 'dot' and the silver portion is toned to a nearly black cast. The same with the gold bullion chin cord....it's handsomely tarnished from the years. Pebbled gold-finished side buttons. Interior of cap is lined with a tan satin-like fabric and has genuine brown leather sweat band, soft and supple and intact. Event the clear plastic moisture shield is stiff and snappy like a real one, not a pliable plastic. Silver embossed with familiar maker 'Erel' along with 'OFFIZIERE KLIEDERKASSE, SONDERKLASS' (Officer's Outfitter, Special Class Tailoring). Has decorative silk bow at rear seam. Nothing on this cap glows under a black light. About a European size '60'. Just outstanding!
