RD1078.)WAFFEN-SS M40 SINGLE DECAL STEEL HELMET, CAMOUFLAGED: steel shell is an old copy of the highest quality, tough to discern this one from a real period helmet. Underside of shell's skirt is die-struck with maker's code and size 'ET66' (Eisenhuttenwerke and large shell size). Has its original German army field gray application still showing on the inside -- and it's the correct shade too. Convincing wear to the finish around the rim as found on genuine field worn helmets. Adorned with a summer type disruptive camouflage being a green, brown and tan geometric application. Shows convincing age and wear from field use; convincing wear to the crown too. This is a M35 type helmet with separately applied ventilation flanges at sides. Single SS runic decal is a super-high quality one and has been painted around. Decal is intact and shows convincing wear and age too. Brown leather linger is aged and mildly distressed. Liner band is the early non-magnetic type (aluminum). With brown leather chin strap, soft and supple, and snugly fitted over shell's front visor. Fabulous, old piece of restoration workmanship. EXC++++
