RD1094.)GERMAN ARMY M40 SINGLE DECAL STEEL HELMET: original steel helmet shell that's maker marked with size 'Q64'. With its original circa 1940 German army field gray finish intact but for some minor field wear and a few scuffs and scrapes here and there. Typical wear around the rim. I do believe that the Wehrmacht eagle decal is original to this helmet, shows light wear and age so it's pretty much intact. Brown leather liner is a post-war replacement, soft and supple and dark. Stitching at rear seam is strong and intact and all of the leather washers on the liner fingers are in place. Zinc liner band is very, very old and shows lots of age and tarnishing. Shell is marked at the rear underside. There's faint evidence of a production code too but I can't make it out. EXC++++
