US3602.)STATE OF WEST VIRGINIA AMERICAN CIVIL WAR VETERAN'S MEDAL: needless to say, a very rare and desirable State of West Virginia medal for honorably discharge WV veteran of the American Civil War. A really handsome, quality medal with 36mm wide bronze coin-like pendent with raised relief details showing Lady Liberty crowning and returning CW veteran. The state seal of WV is below, resting American eagle to the right and the dates '1861  1865'. Reverse has wreath and 'PRESENTED BY THE STATE OF WEST VIRGINIA'. Clean red, white and blue silk ribbon with pin-back suspension having 'HONORABLE DISCHARGE WV'. Die-struck on the underside of the rim with this veteran's name and his outfit 'JAS. A. CRAWFORD 6th REG.INF.VOLS.' Comes in its original 2x3" cardboard carton showing some old tape repairs and his name on the side in very old india ink. Comes with photo-copied US National Park Service print-out showing this veteran as being on the West Virginia rolls. EXC++++
