US3633.)VIETNAM WAR ERA USMC LT. COLONEL'S MESS DRESS UNIFORM: formal waist jacket and matching trousers. Tailored in Yokosuka, Japan and named inside to USMC Lt. Colonel 'R.S.Burgess'. Tailored of the finest melton cloth wool with stand-up collar and thirteen fire-gilded USMC officer buttons at front. Piped around the collar with crimson embroidery, same with shoulder straps all of which are edged with gold beaded bullion. Decorative cuffs are adorned with exquisite hand embroidered gold bullion acanthus leaves and with frosted gold buttons. On each shoulder strap is hand embroidered silver bullion rank insignia for lieutenant colonel. Matching officer type eagle, globe and anchor devices on collars. These are for opposite sides with eagles facing each other. Screw-back devices are each die-struck on the back with serial number '592' and 'STERLING'. Also marked with '1/20 10k GF' for gold plated details on EGA's. Interior of jacket is lined with crimson satin which is quilted and decorated with elaborate checkered stitching. With cloth embroidered tailor's label inside 'MITO, Custom Tailor, Yokosuka, Japan'. Matching straight-leg trousers of fine officer quality melton cloth wool and with 30mm wide gold bullion brocade embroidered side stripe with crimson embroidered center. Jacket is about a US size 40" with the trousers having a 36" waist. Just outstanding. Bullion embroidery is lightly tarnished from the years, no mothing. EXC++++

No doubt this lieutenant colonel was a USMC aviator given that Yokosuka is the home of US Naval Forces Japan, Seventh Fleet.
