US3957.)NAME-ENGRAVED PURPLE HEART MEDAL, WWI VETERAN: comes with photocopied reduction of his government service record. Shows that he served in France 1917-1918 with the 326th Infantry Regiment. This Purple Heart Medal is a WWII period specimen and is a late award (or perhaps a replacement piece). Government machine engraved on the back with his name (engraved block letters) 'Tony Boggus'. A fine, early PHM with WWII period slot-brooch mounted pin back. Handsomely burnished with a frosted gold application, typical fine WWII quality. Note that his service record is typed with this same name 'BOGGUS, Toney'. Detailed too are his campaigns in France: 'St. Juvin', 'Toul Sectr.' 'Marbache', 'St. Mihiel', 'Meuse-Argonne Offensive'. Shows that he was wounded-in-action on 'Oct. 11, 1918'. Also shows that he was born in Italy, Feb 1891. The date of this paperwork authorizing the award of the PHM is dated '9/5/62'. EXC++++
