US415.)1898 SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR CAMPAIGN MEDAL: USN type Spanish War Campaign Medal, a circa 1920's replacement piece of the highest quality. As fine as the 1900 issue. Struck like a crisp, proof coin and with handsome burnished bronze finish. Reverse has American eagle motif perched on anchor and 'UNITED STATES NAVY FOR SERVICE'. This is a later piece and as such is not serial numbered on the rim. Has clean ribbon with early split-brooch pin-back mounting. This is not a Studley re-strike but a genuine period example. Note too the three ring suspension which is attributed by the experts to the premiere Bastion Brothers firm. Outstanding. EXC+++++
