US1011.)WWII USAAF 8th AIR FORCE OFFICER'S IKE JACKET: this is a tailor-made Class A jacket that was altered into an IKE jacket. No question that alteration was done in England given the super-wide, 4" waist band. Typical US-tailored IKE showed a narrower waist-band. With the original pleated patch pockets having scalloped flaps. The English alterations tailor left the fire gilded gold American eagle buttons as exposed while the front tunic buttons are still in place but concealed. Lapels have the original 'U.S.' and AAF 'winged prop' officer quality collar brass, all clutch-backs. On shoulders are bullion wire hand embroidered lieutenant's rank bars, meticulously hand sewn on and original to this uniform. Silver bullion is nearly black with toning. On wearer's left shoulder is meticulously hand sewn on 8th AAF sleeve patch, English-made type of heavy cord machine embroidered workmanship on blue woolen felt. Lower sleeve hat two gold bullion overseas bars on OD wool undelay, tailor cross-stitched sewn on. Note too the fire gilded American eagle buttons remain in place on the cuffs. Presidential Unit Citation ribbon on wearer's right pocket,,,,has been there since the beginning of time. Interior is lined with a brown satin fabric. Has inside pocket with cloth embroidered label 'REGULATION ARMY OFFICER'S UNIFORM'. Size is '39' and is '42' dated on in interior pocket. With matching chocolate brown wool trousers having printed label inside 'TROUSERS, WOOL, ELASTIQUE, O.D. DARK OFFICER'S'. Trousers have a 32" wasit. EXC++++
