US1014.)OLD UNION ARMY CIVIL WAR CAVALRY FORAGE CAP: Model 1858 forage cap, an old piece of workmanship circa 1960's. Tailored of a quality dark blue wool and correctly fashioned in every respect. Looks like a real one there is no doubt. Has black leather visor and genuine black leather chin strap fastened at sides with Civil War era brass eagle buttons (appear to be original). Interior has genuine brown leather sweat band and cloth liner. On crown are very convincing -- aged and toned from the years -- US cavalry crossed sabers (correctly positioned too, not upside down as is commonly found!). With brass number '7' for the 7th Cavalry Regiment and letter 'I' for troop. Small size as is appropriate (a large one would look goofy; hey, these people were small), no mothing. I love this old copy and you will too. Why pay $3,000 for a real one? EXC++++
