RD491.)GERMAN ARMY SUMMER CAVALRY CAPTAIN'S TUNIC AND TROUSERS: a fabulous piece of tailoring being a summer weight gray twill fabric. 6-button front with four pleated patch pockets having scalloped, buttoned flaps. All buttons are the pebble-finished, wartime subdued field gray. Has dark green badge cloth wool collar -- with all the proper zig-zag machine stitching on the underside -- and with buttoned in linen collar. Tailored with turn-back cuffs. Superb quality collar tabs and shoulder boards; really do appear to be genuine period. Shoulder boards are sewn-in type; wartime subdued silver tops and with reconnaissance golden-rod yellow wool undelay. Each board has genuine period frosted gold rank pips and frosted gold metal battalion numbers '5'. Collar tabs are equally as impressive, impeccably hand applied and with wartime subdued silver bullion wire embroidery and with twisted cornflower yellow center piping on dark green badge cloth wool underlay. Eagle is original period too.....silver metallic BeVo machine embroidered on cut-to-shape dark green badge cloth wool. On wearer's left pocket are fours sets of loops for total of four badges. In the second button hole opening are both Russian Front and '39 Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbons. Upper part of the interior of tunic lined with a gray satin-like fabric. Beautifully tailored gray wool riding trousers with leather reinforced seat, flared at hips and with narrow, buttoned, calves. Trousers have slash pockets at sides, single rear pocket that's buttoned, pocket at front for pocket watch. Has tightening tabs at sides with metal buckles. Note too the printed cloth label on the inside 'Rttm.Kruger, 1./Reiter-Rgt. 5' (Captain Kruger, 5th Cavalry Regiment). Uniform is complete with German suspenders too. Just outstanding. Tunic is about a US size 38/40 and the trousers have a 36" waist. EXC++++
