RD767.)HJ KNIFE: a really fine old fake and one made to fool for sure. Natural steel blade is etched with HJ motto 'Blut und Ehre!' which is a bit light from wear. Blade shows cross-graining workmanship so it's an old one for sure (such cross-graining is not evident on the newer, crappy copies). Not maker marked. Has brown leather buffer pad. Black, checkered, grips are intact and perfect as is the glass enameled HJ insigne in center (which is cloisonné enameling, appears to be original period). Blade shows its original sharpening which is very much like a real one. Outstanding quality. Two domed aluminum rivets on grip. Note too that the pommel is nickel-plated as is the cross-guard. Smooth black enamel finished steel scabbard, minor wear and age from the years. Has black leather frog with snap button closure at grip. Superb all around. If genuine this would be a $350 piece.
