RD886.)WWII US ARMY 29th INFANTRY DIVISION STEEL HELMET: a fabulous piece of restoration workmanship, you'll love it. OD shade #7 steel helmet is an original World War Two era example. Wartime enamel finish is pretty much intact and shows wear and age from use. Flexible chin strap loops which dates this helmet after 1942. Wear too around the rim from service use. Adorned at the front with perfectly hand-painted sergeant's chevron and 29th Infantry Division patch design. Both chevrons and patch design show convincing age and wear. Replacement chin strap is early wartime light khaki shade #3 canvas duck and has black-finished hook-and-claw release buckle. Wartime liner is Westinghouse contract marked inside the crown and is OD shade #7 finished. Has First Army decal on the wearer's left side. This decal is original to this liner and is pretty much intact, mild wear and age. Interior of liner has early khaki shade suspension webbing, soft and supple but worn brown leather sweat band. Brown leather liner chin strap is a post-war replacement however the OD shade #7 camouflage net is original period....it's the ETO type tied in 1/2" squares. A wonderful, restored helmet. EXC+++++
