OC388.)FACIST ITALIAN YOUTH LEADER'S DAGGER: there's no question that this is an original period piece however a lot of research on our part raising some questions. While the steel scabbard is certainly original, it's not leather as is frequently shown with these. Also, the cross-guard on this dagger is curved...on many youth leader's daggers the cross-guard is straight. I have seen a few of these on-line with black metal scabbards and the scabbard that accompanies this example is most assuredly original to this dagger. You'll agree. Dagger and scabbard are 12" long overall. Clean nickel-plated blade, minor in/out wear from scabbard action. Has brass cross-guard and brass eagle motif pommel. Black leather covered grip with intact brass wire wrapping. Black finished steel scabbard with black leather hanger and aluminum button closure. No question that this scabbard is original to this blade, scabbard is not a convenient replacement. Italian GIL daggers are not a familiar subject for me. EXC++++
