OC393.)WWII IMPERIAL JAPANESE NAVAL OFFICER'S VISOR CAP IN BOX: nice example in its original carrying case. White cotton cover is removeable; beneath is the standard winter type navy blue wool visor. Cap displays a nice shape and profile, black patent leather visor. Has black leather chin strap fastened at sides with gold chrysanthemum/anchor buttons. Black mohair wool cap band and with two black-finished ventilation grommets on each side. Hand embroidered gold bullion cockade with separately applied silver chrysanthemum flower at top. Embroidered on navy blue wool, some unraveling to bullion on the anchor device. Interior of cap is lined with burgundy satin and has black ersatz oilcloth sweat band. Has label inside with Japanese characters named to naval officer. White summer-time cover is generally clean, some mild staining and a couple of tiny holes. Inked inside with two Japanese characters. Cover has been laundered. Comes in 7x10" hardened fiberboard case with carrying handle at top and locking latches at sides. Has paper label on the top inked with this officer's name in Japanese characters.
