US401.)WHITE HOUSE MILITARY STAFF BADGE: so-called 1st pattern White House Staff Badge circa 1960's. 55mm wide and with separately applied silver American eagle device set on white glass enameling. Starburst base is frosted gold and handsomely burnished. Reverse has three small domed rivets and three clutch-back devices. Not maker marked (which is common with the early examples). Back of badge is attractively toned with years of patina. Ask for more up-close and detailed photos so that you can study and research this piece. I say this because, while this badge is most assuredly genuine period, there's some confusion on the two types -- white enamel and blue enamel -- and just what their purpose was and the exact date. That is, 1st issue type for the Vice President or the President or active White House staff or former. If you figure it out, let me know. EXC++++
