OC723.)BRITISH ZULU WARS INFANTRYMAN'S SUN HELMET: such a fine old piece that you'd consider it genuine period....it's old and aged and salty. Very, very convincing and in a great state of preservation. We were told that this sun helmet was used in the filming of the 1964 film 'ZULU'  with Michael Caine about the spectacular 1879 battle of Rorke's Drift in Victorian South Africa. Properly constructed of six separate off-white canvas panels with ventilation dome at top. Radiates age and quality. With stamped brass sun helmet plate for the 24th Regiment of Foot (Battle of Rorke's Drift)...appears to be genuine period and has maroon felt backing behind the open '24'. With typical British cotter pins on the underside. Has very old chain link chin strap with brown leather backing. Inside of helmet is lined with green cotton and had genuine brown leather sweatband soft and supple. Movie was nearly sixty-five years ago and this sun helmet sure looks to be that old. EXC++++
