US1129.)WORLD WAR TWO US ARMY M-1 STEEL HELMET W/CAMOUFLAGE NET: a pristine example, never issued and flawless. Shell is finished with perfect OD shade #7 application, this being the cork aggregate type, rough surface. Absolutely perfect. Shell has front seam which dates this helmet to pre-November 1943. Chin strap loops are the flexible type, not welded in place. Light khaki shade #3 canvas duck chin strap with early war brass hook-and-claw release buckle. OD shade #7 liner is likewise flawless and perfect. It's Firestone Mfg. Company marked in the crown, wartime contract logo. Liner has early light khaki shade webbing and coffee-with-cream shade pigskin leather sweat band.....entire interior is perfect as made, no use evident. Has snap-in neck harness strap. Brown leather chin strap for liner snugly fitted over shell's front visor. Camouflage net is the ETO type, two-toned shade with OD #7 and brown colors, tie din 1/2" squares. Net has that characteristic musty smell unique to these genuine period examples; this smell is from the anti-mildew coating used during the war on so much field gear. EXC+++++
